I need out of this car (and hubby to stop singing about Davy Crockett while we’re in TN)

Observations of the day:

  • We’re in Chiang Mai, Thailand and after a night of sleeping on a surface made from the hardest material know to man (not sure what that bed was made of, but it was brutal!), we met up with our friends for breakfast. The players are:
    • Fabulous Freddie (FF)
    • Marvelous Mary (MM) – Freddie’s wife (and it took him FOREVER to marry this wonderful woman!
    • Spectacular Stacy (SS)
    • The Gnat – Hubby’s childhood friend who is like one of those bugs that buzz around your head and drive you crazy (but he’s so fun and we love him). He is SS’s husband and therefore she qualifies to be a saint.
    • They all live in CA, while we, like Sonshine, moved to America and now reside in GA.
  • We met for breakfast and caught up on our flights there. Chiang Mai was a wonderful 75 degrees (in late December) and on their way over, they had a long layover in Beijing, China. It was enough time where they could leave the airport and tour some of the wonderful tourist sights. It was also 18 degrees there! They about froze to death.
  • At breakfast I related my seafood congee story and the Gnat took that as a challenge. They had congee on the buffet and he had to get some…and eat it…in front of me. Congee looks like this and I can’t get past that:

  • Later, Mr. Chang (our guide) and Uncle (our driver), picked us up and our adventures officially began. Mr. Chang, while being so very nice, talked all the time about random things, his cat, his mom’s cooking, his daughter, his property, instead of things we were passing by. Once we got to our destination, he was fine and talked about pertinent things. But we missed a lot of history on the way.
  • Moving on, we went to visit Sonshine at his new home in New Jersey and took Baby Chaos. He is the best traveling dog we have ever had.
  • We found a wonderful dog sitter on Rover.com that sent me many text, photo and video updates on Chaos. We finally got to see Avengers: Endgame (be careful – link has spoilers!) and all I can say is “Really, Thor?” and “What the what with that hammer!”. It was a bit too long, bittersweet, had their usual great one-liners and there is no cut scene after the credits. Is it really over? If so, I’m gonna miss those guys!
  • We watched “Glass” by M. Night Shyamalan (again be careful – spoilers). I enjoyed it but not everyone is a fan of Shyamalan’s work.
  • Sonshine has asked for a quilt so he won’t be cold this winter (and no, I haven’t finished Amy’s yet). I have an Accuquilt Go cutter that I usually don’t remember that I have. I am thinking of using it for his quilt and this is the pattern that I am considering: Sonshine’s Quilt I actually think I have all the dies. Let me know what you think in the comments. I’ll likely do grey tones (he’s color blind anyway – LOL)
  • Finally home. Spent way too much time on that photo gallery since all the pics uploaded sideways! Next time – my trip to Atlantic City and the bonehead men in my life, the temple in Chiang Mai and my quilting progress. See ya later!

Love the pics, but why is Davy Crockett in the title and China in the story? So confused!

    1. The blog is about quilting and life. We recently went to Southeast Asia and my readers have expressed interest in my travels in the past. This was a continuation of the previous post. As I was writing, we were traveling thru TN and Hubby WOULD NOT stop singing the Davy Crockett song and it was driving me nuts. I try for funny titles and that’s what I was thinking at the moment. I hope you enjoy the blog and skip over the parts that do not interest you. Please feel free to let me know how I can make your blog experience with me more enjoyable!

  2. I like the quilt pattern. You may want to add another row if Sonshine is a tall boy. Looks like you had a great trip. Welcome back 🙂
